Danijela Dacic

OG Nerd: Hey Dani thanks for joining me this morning! How have you been?

Danijela Dacic: Thank you for having me, I’ve been great. How are you?

OG: Yeah busy as always! So I’ve been checking out your page and you have been doing a lot of things from cosplaying to doing interviews on youtube! How did it all got started?

DD: Well my love for cosplay started back in 2016, I think it was when I attended my first con and just fell in love with cosplay. I knew it was something I just HAD to do, gives me a chance to express myself creatively. I also embody Wonder Woman for all of my charity work and as an ambassador for the Make-A-Wish foundation, her character and what she stands for, mean a lot to me personally.

Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to become a Warner Bros ambassador here in Australia and lucky enough to be invited to a lot of unforgettable events/movie premieres that I’m extremely grateful for. As for interviews, I was given the amazing opportunity and I’ve just been loving it! I love talking to people about their passions and hard work.

OG: Gotta love a good origin story! Do you remember what your first cosplay outfit was and why you chose that?

DD: Absolutely! It was Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman because I grew up watching the Wonder Woman TV series and thought she was such a strong and inspirational character and I just wanted to be her 🤣 She embodied strength, resilience and women empowerment

OG: Wonder Woman is a great role model! How many wonder woman outfits have you got now and do you make them or source them?

DD: She absolutely is! Oh gosh, off the top of my head, I think I have around 9 or 10 (maybe more 😅) I have different versions of Wonder Woman. I do a little of both. For the ones I use for events and charity, I usually source them because the quality is amazing and withstands the test of time. There have been some I’ve made or added to. I’m not great at sewing but I do work my way around it and I love crafting and working with foam too. I love learning new skills

OG: I feel ya! Might as well let the pros handle the outfits and you can rock it out and bring life to it! It’s also great to hear you do make a wish cause I’ve always wondered what cosplayers do outside conventions with their costumes. You’re really putting it to good use! How did you get involved in that?

DD: Exactly right. Thank you, it’s extremely rewarding and life is very short. I think it’s important to give back when you can. Nothing compares to seeing the kids smile when they meet their superheroes. I have done quite a few Starlight events at the children’s hospital as Wonder Woman and I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend to assist with granting a wish (for Make-A-Wish) for a child as Wonder Woman and since then I was honored to be asked to be an ambassador

OG: Congratulations that’s really a big deal and giving that experience to the kids is so rewarding! I was watching your interview with on-screen Wonder Woman Gal Gadot and Director Patty Jenkins. How was that? Were you nervous?

DD: Thank you so much. That means a lot. To be honest, I was nervous but mostly excited, Patty Jenkins complimented my Wonder Woman golden armour which made me squeal and Gal was so lovely and kind to chat to. We had some fun chats behind the scenes which absolutely made my day. It was such an incredible and unforgettable experience. The cast was all so lovely. Gal Gadot is such an incredible actress and such an inspiration and Patty Jenkins is a powerhouse!

OG: I did see that! I bet that one will be one of those I’ll tell my grandchildren moments. So besides all the cosplaying and being an all-around legend. What do you do outside of that?

DD: Oh 100%, I think everything I have been lucky enough to experience In the last 7 years will be stories to tell the grandchildren. I actually don’t have an eventful job as I work with property and investment. Content creation has allowed me to continue to express my creative side so I quite enjoy that.

OG: Yeah I fully understand! We all need that creative outlet! We’ll what’s in the future for you? More events? Pax? More youtube videos? Podcast?

DD: Oh goodness, honestly whatever the universe throws at me, I’m ready to experience it. As I’ve said, life is so short and I just want to experience amazing things and meet incredible people. I am planning to hopefully Make it to PAX, so I hope to run into you and the incredible team and say hi!

OG: Yeah most definitely! Well, we’ll check in with you at a later stage and see what you’ve even up to!

DD: I’m looking forward to it. Thank you so much for your time today, I truly appreciate it and love what you do!
